This Hazari Court Fight: A serious case of assault inside the court room has come to light in Tis Hazari District Court of Delhi. Here the lawyer was beaten in the court in front of the judge, when he was presenting the side of an accused. This case of the victim lawyer was heard in the Supreme Court. He told before the CJI that when he was appearing on behalf of an accused, the lawyer of the other side along with some people forcibly entered the court room. At that time the judge was sitting in the court, but still the lawyer was attacked. The lawyer said that the police did not provide any help.

CJI’s strict comment on hooliganism in court

During the mentioning of this case in the Supreme Court, CJI Surya Kant expressed strong objection. He said that this kind of ‘hooliganism’ cannot be tolerated at all. This is a plain failure of the rule of law. Strict action will be taken against the culprits.

CJI assured action

CJI Surya Kant advised the lawyer to first submit a written complaint to the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. Also, send a copy of that complaint to them. The Chief Justice of India assured that the matter will be looked into at the administrative level and necessary action will be taken.

The lawyer told that this incident took place on 7th February and at that time all the judicial officers including the judge were present in the court. CJI clearly said that violence in the court premises is a very serious matter. If lawyers are not safe inside the court, then it is an alarm bell for the entire justice system. The court said that it is necessary to take strict action on such incidents, so that in future no one dares to take the law into their own hands.
