Nabarangpur: A surprising case has come to light from Nabarangpur district of Odisha. Here a former MLA has been ostracized by his society. The former MLA had got his daughter engaged to a boy from another caste, that is why the society took this decision.
What is the whole matter?
Former MLA Sadashiv Pradhani and his family have been ostracized from Bhatra community. This decision was taken after his daughter’s marriage was fixed in another caste. According to the information received, an important meeting of All India Bhatra Development Council was organized in the Danteshwari temple complex located in Dhamnaguda village of Jharigaon block. In this meeting, Bhatra Samaj workers were called from 10 blocks of the district and after a long discussion, it was unanimously decided that Sadashiv Pradhani and his family should be socially ostracized for violating the rules of the society.
It is being told that the former MLA is preparing to get his daughter married to a young man from another caste, i.e. Brahmin community, going against the traditions and rules of Bhatra community. Recently an engagement has taken place and the marriage is expected to take place next month. Parishad leaders say that intercaste marriage is not traditionally accepted in Bhatra society and it is considered against the traditions of the society.
In the letter issued by the Council, it has been made clear that during the social boycott, no member of the Bhatra community will participate in the happiness and sorrow of the Pradhani family or in any social program. After this decision, there is an atmosphere of discussion and controversy in the area.
However, till now no public reaction has come from former MLA Sadashiv Pradhani or any member of his family on this entire matter.
This is not the first case, even before this the society has taken action on the issue of inter-caste marriage. Former Lok Sabha MP Pradeep Majhi was also ostracized for 12 years over similar allegations.
At present, discussion is going on at the political and social level in the area regarding this development. (Report: Shubham Kumar from Odisha)
