Former Vice President Dhankar fainted twice in the washroom, admitted to AIIMS for checkup.

Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar had fainted twice in the washroom on January 10. After this, on Monday he was admitted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Dhankhar, 74, underwent an MRI, and other tests will be conducted on Tuesday, officials said. He told that the former Vice President fainted twice in the washroom at around 3.30 am on January 10.

“Today, he went to AIIMS for a checkup. The doctors here insisted that he should be admitted for tests. He will stay there overnight,” an official said. He said Dhankhar had fainted several times in the past, including while attending public events in the Rann of Kutch, Uttarakhand, Kerala and as Vice President in the national capital.

Had left the post of Vice President due to health

Dhankhar had resigned from the post of Vice President on July 21 citing health. He assumed office on 11 August 2022, and his entire 5-year term was to run from 10-11 August 2027. Therefore, he had about 2 years of tenure left at the time of his resignation. This resignation came suddenly and was much talked about, as he was conducting the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha on the first day of the monsoon session, and announced his resignation the same night. After leaving the post of Vice President, there have been reports of his health deteriorating several times. He was also admitted to AIIMS last year for a heart ailment.
