The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted rain in many states of North India. IMD said that under the influence of the new Western Disturbance, scattered rainfall/snowfall may occur over the Western Himalayan region and plains of North-Western India on 17 and 18 February 2026. Due to western disturbance, rain and snowfall continues in some parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Uttarakhand, but now its effect can be seen in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh also.
IMD said that due to a weak western disturbance, there is a possibility of strong winds and light rain at isolated places in Rajasthan on February 17 and 18. The effect of rain in Himachal and Rajasthan can also be seen in UP and Delhi NCR. It is hot here during the day, but after snowfall the maximum temperature may drop due to cold winds.
Meteorological Department updates
- Minimum temperatures may rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius over northwest India during the next 3 days. After this, there is a possibility of a drop of 2-3 degrees Celsius.
- There will be no significant change in minimum temperatures over Western India during the next 24 hours and thereafter temperatures may rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius.
- There is no possibility of any significant change in the minimum temperature in the rest of the country.
- There will be no significant change in the maximum temperature in Maharashtra during the next 5 days and thereafter it is likely to rise gradually by 2-3 degrees Celsius.
- Konkan, Goa and coastal areas of Karnataka may remain humid for the next three days. At the same time, rain alert has been issued in Andaman Nicobar Islands.
Light fog expected in Delhi
The maximum temperature recorded in Delhi on Sunday was 28.5 degrees Celsius, which is 4.1 degrees above normal. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature was 11.1 degrees Celsius, which is 0.1 degrees above normal. The department has predicted light fog on Monday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 28 degrees and 12 degrees Celsius respectively.
