The year 2026 is going to prove to be very special for mythological stories in Indian cinema. Ranbir Kapoor’s much-awaited film ‘Ramayan’ will hit the theaters to brighten up Diwali. Many other projects including Akshaye Khanna’s ‘Mahakali’ are also in the queue. Obviously, in the last few years, many films like ‘Adipurush’ and ‘Shakuntalam’ have come which proved successful in attracting the attention of the audience. ‘Nagabandham’ and ‘Chiranjeevi Hanuman: The Eternal’

‘Nagabandham’ directed by Abhishek Nama is a mytho-action film inspired by Abdali’s historical Afghan invasion. The story is based on the conflict between cultural opposition and divine protection. The film will be released in summer 2026. ‘Chiranjeevi Hanuman: The Eternal’ is India’s first AI-generated mythological film, which will be released in theaters on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, 2026. Directed by Rajesh Mapuskar, the film promises to be full of mythology and action.

‘Mahakali’ and ‘Seyon’

Directed by Pooja Kolluru and produced by Prashant Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), this film has been in the news for a long time. Bhumi Shetty will be seen in the lead role in ‘Mahakali’. Akshay will be seen in the role of Divine Guru Shukracharya. It will be released in theaters this year. Produced by Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International, ‘Seyon’ is expected to release in late 2026. It stars Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role. The story will focus on mythology and divine powers.

‘Ramayana: Part 1’

Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited film ‘Ramayana: Part- 1’ is all set for its grand release on Diwali, 2026. Ranbir will be seen in the role of Shri Ram in the film. Sai Pallavi will be seen in the role of Mother Sita and South Superstar Yash is playing the role of Ravana. Many stars including Ravi Dubey, Sunny Deol, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil are part of this film who will be seen in different important roles. The second part of this epic will release in Diwali, 2027.
