There may be a delay in the launch of Gaganyaan

What is the news?

There is a possibility of delay regarding the Gaganyaan mission of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). According to the report, the launch of Gaganyaan-G1 mission was scheduled for February 10, 2026. This has also been mentioned in an FCC filing of ISRO made on January 9. This mission is an important part of India’s human space program, hence special attention was being kept on its timing.

Ground station support withdrawn

ISRO had sought support from a ground station in Hawaii, USA for 30 days from February 9 for the Gaganyaan-G1 mission. This support is necessary to maintain contact with the satellite, but on January 12, this request was withdrawn. It is believed that this decision was taken after the failure of PSLV-C62 mission on the same day, which may affect the schedule of Gaganyaan mission.

Impact of PSLV-C62 failure

There was a technical glitch in the PSLV-C62 mission launched on January 12, due to which the mission could not be successful. After this ISRO started reviewing its upcoming missions. Experts say that no risk will be taken in an important mission like Gaganyaan. In such a situation, all systems and security related checks will be done completely before launch, even if it takes a little more time.
