Galgotias University: The matter of displaying Chinese robodog under the theme of ‘Make in India’ in AI Impact Summit 2026 has gained momentum. After huge controversy and embarrassment on social media, Galgotias University has issued an official press release and publicly apologized. The university termed the entire incident as a ‘misunderstanding’ and held the representative present at the pavilion responsible.

“Incorrect information given in enthusiasm”

The university has clarified that the representative posted at their pavilion did not have correct information about the technical origin of the product. The university says that the concerned representative did not have the official right to talk to the media. In their excitement to be in front of the cameras, the representative made false and misleading claims regarding the provenance of the product.

What is the whole controversy?

In fact, a ‘robodog’ was the center of attraction at the stall of Galgotias University in the expo area of the summit. University representative Professor Neha Singh presented it in front of the camera under the name ‘Orion’ and claimed that it is an indigenous product prepared by the University’s ‘Centre of Excellence’.

However, technical experts exposed it on social media and said that this robodog is actually the Go2 model of Chinese company Unitree, which is commercially available in the market for around Rs 2.5 lakh. Controversy arose over presenting a foreign product as one’s own on the platform of ‘Make in India’. Seeing the displeasure of the organizers, the university has removed its stall from the summit and vacated the premises.
