There is an uproar in the country regarding gas cylinders. In many cities, long lines of people are seen outside gas agencies. The government is continuously taking steps to reduce this crisis. In this sequence, Union Culture and Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat held a meeting with Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and senior officials of the Petroleum Ministry on Friday. He discussed the current situation of Commercial LPG (LPG) and its impact on the hotel and tourism industry.
Businesses will get 20 percent gas
Union Minister Shekhawat said that the government has decided to take immediate steps to normalize the situation. Under this, about 20 percent of their average monthly commercial gas requirement will be made available to businesses from today itself. Apart from this, work is also being done to arrange additional supply of gas to provide relief to hotels and restaurants.
Shekhawat said that coordination will be maintained between the Petroleum Ministry and the Tourism Ministry to keep a constant eye on this entire matter. Dialogue will also continue with industry stakeholders, so that their problems can be resolved in time.
Government is committed to support- Shekhawat
Union Minister Shekhawat said that the current pressure is a result of supply disruption caused by the ongoing war globally. At such a time, the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to protecting the interests of consumers as well as supporting the hotel-tourism sector.
High-level committee formed
Let us tell you that in view of this crisis, the Petroleum Ministry has formed a high-level committee of executive directors of three oil companies, which will review the supply. To control the supply of gas, the Central Government has implemented the Essential Commodity Act across the country. The rules for booking domestic cylinders have been changed. After the cylinder is delivered, you will be able to book the second cylinder only after 25 days. To prevent gas hoarding, delivery agents are strictly using OTP or biometric verification.
