New Delhi: In the beginning of the month of March, the temperature is increasing rapidly across the country. Along with the day, now the heat is also being felt during the nights. While North and West India are in the grip of extreme heat, an alert for rain and hailstorm has been issued in the hilly states and East India. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heat wave in areas like Rajasthan, Gujarat and Vidarbha.
According to IMD, there is a possibility of heat wave in Rajasthan, Vidarbha and Gujarat. By March 11, temperatures in the plains of northwest India, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh may remain 4-6∘C above normal. In Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh also, the day temperature is expected to be 5-7∘C above normal.

Due to the activation of a new western disturbance, the weather will remain changed in the Himalayan regions till March 15. There is a possibility of thunderstorm and hailstorm with wind speed of 30-50 km/hr in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal between March 10 and 12. Heavy rain is also expected in Jammu and Kashmir on March 10 and 11. There may be light rain and snowfall in Uttarakhand during March 9 to 15.

The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert in about 8 states of the country.
- There are chances of rain and thundershowers in Bihar and Jharkhand on March 10 and 11.
- Light rainfall may occur over sub-Himalayan areas in West Bengal and Sikkim between March 10 and 13.
- Rains are likely to continue in Arunachal Pradesh till March 15.
- There may be light to moderate rain with lightning in Kerala on March 10.
- There is a possibility of thunderstorm and hailstorm with wind speed of 30-50 km/hr in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal between March 10 and 12.

The heat has started showing its anger in the capital Delhi. Although the sky will be lightly cloudy today, which may provide some relief from direct sunlight, but there is no possibility of rain. The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be between 34 degrees Celsius to 39 degrees Celsius. In the next 4 days, the temperature of Delhi may increase by 2 to 3 degrees, due to which the heat wave will increase further.
