Haridwar: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah participated in the program organized in Haridwar on the occasion of completion of 4 years of Uttarakhand government. Here Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami welcomed him by presenting memento and wearing a traditional cap as a symbol of the rich cultural identity of Uttarakhand. Addressing the public on this occasion, Amit Shah remembered the contribution of the then Prime Minister and senior BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the development of Uttarakhand.
Public has not forgotten ‘Rampur Tiraha incident’
Home Minister Amit Shah said that I have come to tell the people of Uttarakhand that there was a time when this land of gods was fighting for its rights. The youth were in the field to save the distinct culture and identity. And at that time, Congress Party and Samajwadi Party had imposed such unbearable oppression on the youth of Uttarakhand. Then many youths were shot and sacrificed their lives. The people of Uttarakhand have not forgotten the incident of Rampur Tiraha even today.
Shah remembered former PM Vajpayee
Amit Shah said, ‘At that time, senior BJP leader and then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee worked to create Uttarakhand. Then Congress leaders were asking how small states would survive and how their economy would run. Atal Bihari Vajpayee had created 3 small states – Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. Today these three states have moved forward on the path of development.
Double engine government is needed – CM Dhami
At the same time, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami asked the public whether they want a double engine government under the leadership of PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for the overall development of Uttarakhand and restoring the glory of Devbhoomi or Congress which only fills its coffers in the name of development.
