Hospice: The Tibetan spiritual guru Dalai Lama took part in a special prayer ceremony held at Tsugalakhang, the main temple in Maklodganj, Dharamshala, on Saturday on the eve of his 90th birthday. On this occasion, he dismissed his health and rumors about his longevity, saying that he has the blessings of Avlokiteshwar (Buddhist deity of compassion) and wants to serve people for the next 30-40 years.

Addressing more than 15,000 devotees present at the ceremony, the Dalai Lama said, ‘I have received many indications that Avlokiteshwar’s blessings are with me. I have tried my best so far and I hope I will live 30-40 years more. I have got the fruits of your prayers. ‘ He also told that since childhood he felt that he had a deep connection with Alokiteshwar. Laughing, he said, “I want to live more than 130 years so that I can serve and serve the people of Buddha religion and Tibet.”

But on this occasion, President of Central Tibetan Administration, Penpa Tsering dismissed these rumors outright. He said, ‘All this is not like this. Some people are thinking that the Dalai Lama will soon make a big announcement or talk about his death. But his health is good and he says that he will live 20 more years. We should understand their tradition. ‘ On this occasion, he also recalled a incident related to Chinese leader Mao Tse-Tung.

The Dalai Lama said in his speech that the Tibetans may have lost their country and are living a delayed life in India, but he will still continue to work for the good of others. He said, “Whether people living in Dharamshala or in any other corner of the world, I want to work for serving and goodness of all.” He also mentioned his meeting with Chinese leader Mao Tse-Tung, when Mao said, “Religion is poison.” The Dalai Lama said that he did not respond to this, but kept a sense of compassion towards Mao.
