Hyderabad: Tension prevailed near the Kattamaisamma Devi temple in Hyderabad’s Malkajgiri after a man was allegedly found defecating near the temple premises. Local BJP and Bajrang Dal leaders caught the man and later handed him over to the police. BJP and other right wing organizations also protested against it.

Hindu organizations expressed strong displeasure

The protesters allege that the incident was a deliberate attempt to hurt Hindu religious sentiments and claim that similar incidents have been happening near Hindu temples. Hindu organizations have expressed strong displeasure over this and staged a protest near the temple.

The accused was taken into custody

The police have taken the accused into custody and are investigating. Some groups have claimed that the man is not a local resident and have cast doubt on his background; However, the police have not confirmed these claims.

The area around the temple remains tense, and heavy police force has been deployed to prevent any law and order problem.

BJP state president N Ramachandra Rao also visited the spot and condemned the incident. He criticized the government and alleged that it had failed to prevent repeated incidents at Hindu religious places.

We will fight on the streets to protect Hindu religion, temples and dignity. Hindus cannot be silenced. There will be no compromise with faith.”
