Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has given a new statement amidst all the political statements. He has rejected rumors of resigning from the post of President of the state unit of Congress. On Sunday, DK Shivakumar said that he is a disciplined soldier of the party. His comments come amid speculations about a possible leadership change and cabinet reshuffle in Karnataka. Let us tell you that these speculations are being made after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s meeting with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi on Saturday.
‘The decision to reshuffle is Siddaramaiah’s prerogative’
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar stressed that the decision on the reshuffle was entirely Siddaramaiah’s prerogative. He said this would be done after discussions with the party high command. DK Shivakumar said that he had come to Delhi to invite Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for the foundation stone laying ceremony of 100 new Congress offices in Karnataka. Apart from this, Siddaramaiah is also in Delhi.
‘I am not going to blackmail Congress’
DK Shivakumar said in New Delhi, “The foundation stone laying ceremony and many other programs are going to take place. Who will handle all this? I have to do it only. Why would I talk about resigning (from the post of state Congress president)? Such a situation has not come yet.” He said, ”I am dedicated to serving the party like a disciplined soldier and whatever responsibility is assigned to me, I fulfill it.” Shivkumar termed these speculations as a product of the media and said, ”I am not going to blackmail the Congress. I have established this party and have worked tirelessly day and night for it. I will continue to do so in future also. Our party will return to power (in Karnataka) in 2028.
