Indian Coast Guard has taken major action against Bangladeshi boats. Three Bangladeshi boats have been seized and 79 people on board arrested for illegal fishing in India’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EECO). Officials informed on Tuesday that they have carried out this action in the Bay of North Bengal. This action was taken while monitoring the International Maritime Boundary Line by Indian Coast Guard (ICG) ships.

The Indian Coast Guard has reported that Bangladeshi fishing boats were found within Indian waters during routine surveillance. Indian Coast Guard officials informed that the boats were stopped and investigation found that none of the crew members had valid authorization or permit to fish in Indian waters. The boat was subsequently examined and the fishing equipment and fresh fish caught confirmed illegal fishing.
What action was taken?
The Indian Coast Guard seized all three fishing boats of Bangladesh after investigation. All the arrested crew members have been taken from there to Fraserganj in West Bengal. Here he was handed over to the Marine Police for further action. (input language)
