Indian Space Research Organization i.e. ISRO has announced the first launch of the year 2026. ISRO’s first launch mission of this year, PSLV-C62/EOS-N1, is scheduled for 12 January (Monday) at 10:17 am. Under this mission, the PSLV-C 62 rocket will carry Earth monitoring satellite EOS-N1 as the primary payload. Along with this, 15 co-passenger satellites will also be launched.
Vehicle integration work completed
According to the information revealed, this 64th PSLV flight from the PSLV-DL variant will place the payload in a 505 km sun-synchronous orbit. Vehicle integration work on Launch Pad 1 at Sri Hari Kota Launch Center has been completed and pre-launch testing is underway. It is noteworthy that PSLV-C61 mission had failed in May last year. This mission duration will be approximately 1 hour 48 minutes.
Main satellite to be launched by ISRO
The list of main satellites to be launched by ISRO on January 12 has also been revealed.
1. EOS-N1 (Anwesha)*: 400 kg hyperspectral imaging satellite built for DRDO, which will provide 12 meter resolution for defense surveillance, agriculture, urban mapping and environmental tracking.
2. KID (Kestrel Initial Technology Demonstrator)*: The Spanish startup’s 25 kg re-entry prototype will perform a splashdown re-entry attempt in the South Pacific Ocean after final deployment.
3. Other satellites*: Commercial and research satellites from India, Mauritius, Luxembourg, UAE, Singapore, Europe and America will be part of this launch mission.
PSLV is the work horse of ISRO
