Suspicious drones were again seen near the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri area of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday evening. The Army then retaliated by firing at the drones and launched a massive search operation to check any possible consignment. This is the second such incident in Rajouri sector within 48 hours, due to which vigilance has been increased on the LoC and International Border (IB). The soldiers are continuously patrolling.

After the officials issued a high alert, search operations are being conducted along the LoC in Poonch along with Rajouri.

The incident comes just 2 days after security forces were put on high alert after several suspicious Pakistani drones were spotted near the IB and LoC in Samba, Rajouri and Poonch districts last Sunday (January 11). Officials said five drones were spotted in forward areas, following which a search operation was launched to look for the possibility of weapons or contraband being dropped on the Indian side. However, the drones later returned.
Army Chief warned Pakistan
Earlier on Tuesday, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi had given a clear warning to Pakistan regarding the drones recently seen near the LoC. He had said that such activities are not acceptable. He said, “Director General of Military Operations level talks were held with Pakistan, in which India expressed concern over the recent activities of drones. We have asked Pakistan to control drones. Our army is fully alert.”

General Dwivedi said, “There is a need for close vigil on the western front after the Pahalgam terror attack, following which Indian forces changed their positions through quick realignment strategy. ‘Operation Sindoor’ is still ongoing.” “There has been a decline in terrorist activities, but Pakistan continues to sponsor terrorism. Any future misadventure will be dealt with effectively,” he said.
