Taking major action in the fake government job scam, the Enforcement Directorate i.e. ED has started a nationwide search operation against an organized gang. This gang was cheating people in the name of government jobs. In the initial investigation, this scam was revealed in the name of Indian Railways, but as the investigation progressed, it was revealed that the gang committed fraud by misusing the names of more than 40 government organizations and departments.
These include Forest Department, RRB, Indian Post, Income Tax Department, High Court, PWD, Bihar Government, DDA, Rajasthan Secretariat and many other departments.
According to the investigating agency, the accused used to send joining letters to the candidates by creating fake email accounts resembling government domains. To win trust, some victims were also given initial salary for 2 to 3 months. The victims were lured with the promise of appointment to posts like RPF, TTE, Technician in Railways.
According to ED, in this case, simultaneous raids are being conducted at 15 locations across the country.
The places of raid are as follows-
- Bihar: Muzaffarpur (1), Motihari (2)
- West Bengal: Kolkata (2)
- Kerala: Ernakulam, Pandalam, Adoor and Kodur (4)
- Tamil Nadu: Chennai (1)
- Gujarat: Rajkot (1)
- Uttar Pradesh: Gorakhpur (2), Prayagraj/Allahabad (1), Lucknow (1)
The Enforcement Directorate suspects that this organized gang has defrauded hundreds of youth across the country to the tune of crores of rupees by giving them fake appointment letters. The case is also being investigated from the money laundering angle and many important documents and digital evidence are expected to be found during the search.
