Tamil nadu assembly election: MNM chief and Rajya Sabha MP Kamal Haasan met Chief Minister MK Stalin. MNM today announced that it has decided not to contest the Assembly elections and support the DMK alliance, but actor-turned-politician Kamal Haasan has decided not to contest the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Along with this, he said that his party Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) will also not contest the assembly elections. Haasan said that instead his party has decided to extend unconditional support to the DMK-led alliance.
Know how and where things went wrong
Let us tell you that this decision of MNM and DMK has come at a time when DMK and its allies have decided the seat distribution for the assembly elections. Kamal Haasan said that his party was not satisfied with the number of seats given to it by DMK nor was it satisfied with the fact that it would have to contest on the DMK symbol instead of MNM. There was a discussion on seat sharing on Tuesday, in which DMK gave less seats to Kamal Haasan’s MNM and also said that MNM will have to fight on DMK’s election symbol only. This was the reason why things went wrong and Kamal Haasan’s MNM decided not to contest the elections.
Stalin said- how to thank Kamal
Kamal Haasan said, we openly and clearly declare that MNM will not directly contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections and will extend its unconditional support to the candidates of the DMK-led alliance. On this decision of Kamal Haasan, Tamil Nadu CM and DMK chief MK Stalin said that he has no words to thank him. Stalin also said that Kamal Haasan should tour the entire Tamil Nadu.
