Karnataka government alert regarding IPL 2026, Chief Secretary gave instructions to all officials

The first match of IPL 2026 will be held on the same ground in Bengaluru, where there was a stampede during the celebrations last year. 11 people were killed in this stampede. Many times more people had reached M Chinnaswamy Stadium than its capacity. When they did not get entry inside the stadium, they started breaking the gate. During this time a stampede broke out, in which 11 people died. Many others were injured. Now the government is taking special precautions before the opening match of the season at this stadium.

Karnataka Chief Minister’s Office informed that with the start of the IPL tournament on Saturday, Chief Secretary of the State Government Shalini Rajneesh held a meeting on safety with the concerned officials and KSCA officials and gave advice and instructions. He took information about the security arrangements made in and around the stadium for the safety of cricket lovers, changes made in the city’s traffic system, parking arrangements, drinking water inside the stadium and other important things.

The Chief Secretary took information from the officials about the number of passengers in the metro, the running schedule of the metro, extra security and safety provided at the metro stations and gave several instructions to ensure that no small untoward incident happens. He instructed in the meeting to strictly follow the conditions and precautionary measures imposed by the government for organizing the tournament.

Instructions to officers to remain on high alert

Shalini Rajneesh directed that the concerned officers and organizations should remain on high alert and also directed that regular exchange of related information should be done with the above mentioned officers. The meeting was attended by KSCA Board of Directors, office bearers, RCB officials, City Police Commissioner, GBA Commissioner, Metro MD and heads of concerned departments.”
