New Delhi: A fresh political controversy broke out on Monday after PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti linked the Red Fort blast to the unrest in Kashmir. BJP has criticized this statement of Mehbooba Mufti. It is noteworthy that Mehbooba Mufti launched a scathing attack on the Central Government, alleging that the case of explosion near the Red Fort in the capital reflects the growing feeling of insecurity across the country and the failure of the Centre’s policies in Jammu and Kashmir. However, the BJP strongly condemned Mufti’s statements and accused her of making excuses for those behind the attack. In a post on Twitter, party spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari claimed that she was trying to justify the extremists.

What did Mehbooba Mufti say on the Red Fort blast?

Let us tell you that Mehbooba Mufti said, “You (central government) told the world that everything is fine in Kashmir, but Kashmir’s troubles are echoing in front of the Red Fort. You promised to make Jammu and Kashmir safe, but instead of fulfilling that promise, your policies have made Delhi unsafe. I don’t know how many people in the central government are true nationalists. If an educated youth, a doctor, by tying RDX on his body, he is protecting himself and others. If someone kills someone, it means there is no security in the country. You can get votes by doing Hindu-Muslim politics, but in which direction is the country going?

Mehbooba Mufti further alleged that divisive politics has overshadowed national security. He said, “I don’t know whether the people of Delhi understand this or not, or do they think that the more Hindu-Muslim divide there is, the more bloodshed there will be, the more polarization there will be in the country, the more votes they will get? I think they should think again. The country is bigger than the chair.” He said that “somewhere, the poisonous environment is also responsible for taking the youth of Kashmir on a dangerous path.”
