Keralam Election 2026: Ruling CPM announces names of candidates

The Election Commission has announced elections for 5 states including Kerala on Sunday. Voting for all 140 assembly seats in Kerala is going to be held in a single phase on April 9. It is believed that this time the main contest in the assembly elections in Keralam is going to be between the CPIM led LDF and the Congress led UDF alliance. At the same time, Bharatiya Janata Party is also in competition on many seats. Meanwhile, CPIM has also announced its candidates for the elections.

How many seats will CPIM contest?

Along with the announcement of election dates in Kerala, CPIM, which leads the ruling alliance, has announced the names of its candidates. On Sunday, CPIM said that it will contest on 86 out of 140 assembly seats, the remaining seats will be distributed among other parties of the alliance. The party has released the list of 81 out of 86 candidates, of which currently 75 are CPIM candidates, while the party has decided to support independent candidates on the remaining 6 seats.

From where will Pinarayi Vijayan contest elections?

In the information issued by the party, it was said that CM Pinarayi Vijayan will contest the elections from his seat of Dharmadam, apart from him, 11 sitting ministers and 54 sitting MLA’s have also been given tickets. Congress has announced that candidates for all 140 seats of the party-led UDF alliance will be announced today.

Opinion poll of MATRIZE-IANS regarding the upcoming assembly elections in Kerala has also come out. According to the opinion poll, LDF is expected to get 61-71 seats out of 140 in Kerala. At the same time, UDF is expected to get 58-69 seats in the elections. According to opinion poll, BJP may get 2 seats in Kerala elections.
