Haridwar: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reviewed the preparations for Kumbh Mela-2027 in a high-level meeting held in Haridwar on Saturday. On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the Kumbh Mela to be organized in Haridwar next year will be divine, grand and historical. Ensuring better facilities, accessibility and security for the devotees during the fair is the top priority of the government. There will be no shortcomings in the arrangements of this grand event. Giving strict instructions to the officials to complete the work related to Kumbh Mela on time, the Chief Minister said that all the departments should work with better coordination and immediate compliance of the decisions taken should be ensured.

CM reviewed the preparations

In this meeting held at Fair Control Building, Haridwar, the Chief Minister reviewed the preparations for the fair in detail. He also took information about the action taken on the instructions given in the last meeting and the progress of the currently ongoing works. The Chief Minister directed to complete all the work related to the fair by the month of October. He said that all the major permanent works for the fair have been approved and the proposals for temporary works should also be finalized and completed in time bound manner. Instructions were given to complete the preparations done at zone and sector level in a quality manner as per the set targets and timelines. Instructions were also given to conduct third party audit for monitoring the construction works.

Transportation and parking arrangements

The Chief Minister laid emphasis on ensuring effective and adequate arrangements for transportation and parking during the fair and gave instructions to identify alternative routes. He said that proper arrangements should be made for safe and convenient movement of devotees and bathing. Keeping in mind the possible crowd, a detailed plan should be prepared for bathing, movement and stay. Instructions were also given to make special arrangements for women and elderly devotees.

Special attention to cleanliness and health

Giving instructions to pay special attention to the cleanliness system in the Kumbh area, the Chief Minister said that cooperation of voluntary organizations should also be taken in this work. Giving instructions to ensure better arrangements for health facilities, he said that boat and bike ambulances should be arranged to take the sick devotees to the nearest health centre. The Chief Minister said that for the well-organized and successful organization of the Kumbh Mela, cooperation of saints, saints, Akharas, public representatives and religious and voluntary organizations should be taken and work should be done keeping their suggestions in mind.

Security arrangements should be tight

While giving instructions to ensure tight security arrangements in the Kumbh Mela, he stressed on the deployment of adequate police force. Also asked to ensure deployment of skilled personnel for cyber security, fire fighting and rescue operations. While reviewing the permanent works, the Chief Minister directed that safety audit of all the bridges constructed in the Kumbh area should be conducted and if necessary, their repairs should be completed on time. If there is a need for closure of Ganga Canal for the maintenance of ghats of river Ganga, then coordination should be established with the officials of Uttar Pradesh. Strengthening of ghats, safety railings and anti-slip arrangements should be completed in time. Before the start of Kumbh, all the power lines should be taken underground. Giving instructions to ensure proper arrangement of land management and allocation in the Kumbh area, the Chief Minister said that the fair officer himself should monitor it and the area should be kept encroachment free.

On this occasion, Fair Officer Sonika informed the meeting about the progress of the approved works related to the fair and made a detailed presentation on the proposed works and arrangements. The meeting was attended by Secretary, Urban Development Department Nitesh Kumar Jha; Secretary, Public Works Department, Pankaj Kumar Pandey; Commissioner, Garhwal Division Vinay Shankar Pandey; Secretary, Drinking Water Ranveer Singh Chauhan; Secretary, Irrigation couple Kishore Pant; Secretary, Tourism Dhiraj Garbyal; Additional Director General of Police A.P. Anshuman; And DRM Vineeta Srivastava of Moradabad Division of Northern Railway and other senior officials gave detailed information about the preparations for the fair.
