The tenure of 37 MPs in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Parliament, is ending. Many of these MPs will start their tenure again, while many new members will also become part of the Parliament. Recently, the election of new members on 37 seats of Rajya Sabha has also been completed. In this sequence, a farewell speech was organized on Wednesday for the MPs whose tenure in Rajya Sabha is ending. PM Modi also participated in this speech and addressed the House. PM Modi has said that there is no full stop in politics.
‘The house is a big university in itself’
PM Modi said, “Our education and initiation takes place in the House. The House is a big university in itself. Every MP has a contribution in the House. Here new MPs should learn from senior MPs. The MPs who are retiring have a huge contribution in the House. There is no full stop in politics.” During his address, PM Modi also praised Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and MP Sharad Pawar.
‘Everyone in the House makes an important contribution’
Bidding farewell to the retiring MPs, PM Modi said- “Many issues are discussed in the House and everyone makes very important contributions. There are some sweet and sour experiences along the way. However, when such an opportunity comes, it is natural that we rise above party lines and a common feeling emerges among everyone that our colleagues are now moving on to some other important responsibilities. Many MPs are leaving from here having gained experience and will continue to make meaningful contributions to society and public life. Will keep.”
‘Such a long tenure is no small matter’
Addressing the Rajya Sabha, PM Modi said- “Of all the respected members who are bidding farewell to this House, some of them are leaving at a time when the House is not in session, while some are being bid farewell during the session itself. But all these members have made very valuable contributions. I would like to mention respected leaders like HD Deve Gowda, Mallikarjun Kharge and Sharad Pawar. These are senior leaders who have spent more than half of their lives in parliamentary work. With dedication to the House, contribution as much as possible and being fully committed to the responsibilities given by the society is something that we all should learn from these senior leaders, I wholeheartedly appreciate their contribution, because such a long tenure is not a small thing, it is extremely important.
‘People do not retire in politics’
After PM Modi, Congress MP Mallikarjun Kharge also addressed the House. He said that people in politics never retire. Leaders are neither tired nor retired. I have been in politics for 54 years. I still need to learn.
