Massive fire breaks out in SCB Medical College, Cuttack, 10 people killed; CM Mohan Majhi reached the spot

Odisha A massive fire broke out in the trauma care department of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack in the early hours of Monday. It is said that 10 people have died in this accident. It is being told that most of the dead include patients who were admitted in the Trauma Care ICU. The incident is said to have happened around 3 am in the morning, when a sudden fire broke out on the first floor of the emergency department of trauma care. As soon as the fire broke out, the fire safety system of the hospital was activated and the fire department of the hospital started taking immediate action.

ICU shifted to a safe place

Three fire engines were immediately sent to the spot to control the fire. The fire brigade personnel tried to control the fire after a lot of effort. During this time, an atmosphere of chaos was created in the hospital and the relatives of the patients started running here and there in fear. Considering the situation, the patients admitted in ICU were immediately shifted to a safe place. Patients in critical condition were transferred to the New Medicine ICU of the hospital. At present, the cause of the fire is not clearly known and detailed information in this regard is awaited.

CM Mohan Majhi immediately reached the hospital

As soon as information about the incident was received, State Chief Minister Mohan Majhi immediately reached the hospital and took stock of the incident. He went to the New Medicine Building and met the patients and their families affected by the fire. Many senior officials of the administration including Health Secretary, District Collector of Cuttack and DCP are also present on the spot. Relief and rescue work has been continued rapidly by the administration. This accident has created an atmosphere of panic in the entire area and questions have also been raised on the security arrangements of the hospital. (Input- Shubham Kumar)
