In India, it is customary to give the names of gods to people, industries and so on. It is believed that if you keep the names of the gods, you will get the blessings of God. We have the names of Gods for the ropes and garbage carts. But recently, it seems that the censor board has started to remove the dispute if God’s name is given to the movies. The names of some recent movies have been changed because they are the names of gods.
Varalakshmi Sarathkumar starrer ‘Saraswati’ will release tomorrow. But the censor board insisted that the name of this movie should be changed compulsorily and changed the name to ‘S Saraswati’. Actually it is the story of an ordinary woman named Saraswati. But the Censor Board showed its wisdom by changing the name of the movie with extreme sensitivity.

Not even before, a movie named ‘Hey Bhagavan’ was released recently. The censor board also changed the name ‘Bhagavan’ in the name of that movie. The name of the movie was changed to ‘Hey Bhagwant’ and released. Once the story of the movie is about God, or if there is a story about a devotee of God, not only God is named, but even if the name is used in a distorted way, the Censor Board will not raise any objection. The movie ‘Hanuman’ is an example of this.
The Censor Board has recently been showing excessive sensitivity especially on matters of religion. But movies that incite hatred between religions are getting certificates easily. But movies that question authority and criticize the system are facing problems. Vijay starrer ‘Jana Nayagan’ has also faced problems and it is clearly known that it is politically motivated.
