New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi has created a political stir by reading an excerpt from former Army Chief MM Naravane’s unpublished book ‘Four Stars of Destiny’ in the Parliament House. Now in this case, Delhi Police has registered an FIR regarding its illegal publication and circulation. After the FIR was registered, Random House India (PRHI) said that it has the exclusive publishing rights of former Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane’s book ‘Four Stars of Destiny’, and clarified that this book has not been published yet amid reports of circulation of unauthorized copies. The copies available in the market are illegal and a violation of copyright.

Publishing right is there but the book has not been published yet

Let us tell you that Delhi Police has registered an FIR regarding the alleged illegal circulation of manuscripts in digital and other formats. In a statement, the publishing house clarified that no copies of the book – whether in print or digital form – have been released to the public. The publisher said in a statement, “Penguin Random House India would like to clarify that we have the sole publishing rights of ‘Four Stars of Destiny’, a memoir of former Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane. We wish to clarify that the book has not yet been published.”

Copies present in the market are illegal, copyright violation

The statement further added that no copies of the book have been “published, distributed, sold or made available to the public in any way – whether in print or digital form” by the company. The publisher also warned that any version of the book currently in circulation, whether in whole or in part and in any format, including print, PDF or online copies, would constitute copyright infringement.

Legal action against illegal circulation

“Any copy of the book now in circulation, in whole or in part, whether in print, digital, PDF, or any other format, online or offline, on any platform, is in violation of PRHI’s copyright and must be stopped immediately,” the statement said, adding that it would take legal action against the illegal circulation of the material.

Rahul Gandhi showed a copy of the book in the Parliament premises

According to Delhi Police, a case has been registered in the Special Cell to thoroughly investigate the illegal circulation and unapproved publication of this book, and investigation is underway. Last week, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was seen showing a copy of this book in the Parliament complex. He wanted to read excerpts from Yaadon in the Lok Sabha from February 2, but was stopped because it had not been published yet.
