Nitish will have to resign from the post of Chief Minister, because according to the Constitution, a person cannot be a member of 2 Parliaments at the same time. With the resignation of Nitish, a fresh government will have to be formed in Bihar, because it is constitutionally necessary as soon as the Chief Minister leaves the post. Who will be the next Chief Minister of Bihar?

The names of Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Union Minister Nityanand Rai and Minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal are ahead for the next Chief Minister. Chaudhary is the Home Minister and one of the influential BJP leaders in Bihar. He has also been the Bihar BJP President. Nityanand Rai is the junior Home Minister in the Central Government. He was also the chief of Bihar BJP and a three-time MP and MLA. Jaiswal has been a member of the Legislative Council and has held the responsibility of Bihar BJP chief.

Nitish has been the Chief Minister since 2005

Nitish first became the Chief Minister in the year 2000. He was sworn in on March 3 and resigned 7 days later on March 10. After this he became the Chief Minister on November 24, 2005 and remained till May 20, 2014. Manjhi was the Chief Minister from May 2014 to February 2015. Nitish again assumed office on February 22, 2015 and remained Chief Minister continuously thereafter. He has taken oath as Chief Minister 10 times.
