Delhi High Court shock to Rajpal Yadav

What is the news?

Comedian Rajpal Yadav’s troubles are showing no signs of ending. The Delhi High Court had taken a strict stand against him in the check bounce case, and had issued an order to surrender by February 4.
ANI According to the latest report, the actor had filed a petition to extend the deadline, which has been rejected by the court. The court said that there is no basis to grant him relief in this case.

Court refused to hear the argument, surrender was the only order.

Rajpal’s lawyer had told the court that the actor has made arrangements for Rs 50 lakh, hence he has sought one week’s time for payment. However, Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma said, “The plea was rejected that day itself. You were given two more days’ time because you said you were in Mumbai. Today you will have to surrender by 4 pm under any circumstances.”

Court admits actor repeatedly violated orders

The court further said, “He (Rajpal) has repeatedly violated court orders and his promises in the past and has not complied with any order or undertaking. I do not think there is any ground for showing any leniency to him now.” The court accepted that Rajpal was being given time and again in the hope that he would resolve the check bounce issue, but he had broken the trust of the court.

Learn about the case in detail

In the year 2010, Rajpal had taken a loan of Rs 5 crore from a company for the production of a film. The checks given to repay it had bounced. In 2024, the court had stayed the arrest of the actor after he had given an assurance of clearing all the dues. However, the actor did not clear the dues despite false assurances of installments and drafts. Therefore the court has asked him to surrender by February 4.
