Shatrughan Sinha’s ‘Khamosh’ now closed

What is the news?

Now copying Shatrughan Sinha or making memes of him can be costly. In fact, the Bombay High Court, while giving its verdict in favor of Shatrughan, has banned the use of his name, face, voice and signature dialogue ‘Khamosh’ without permission. According to the court, this is their personal identity and no person or company can take advantage of it without their consent. The court has ordered immediate removal of all such content from the internet.

Big decision of the court on Shatrughan’s petition

Bombay High Court has given a big relief to Shatrughan and has ordered the protection of his personality rights. The court has banned various websites, social media accounts, AI entities and unknown persons from using his name, photo, voice style and his famous dialogue ‘Khamosh’ without permission. The court issued this interim order on Shatrughan’s petition. He had filed a lawsuit regarding violation of commercial intellectual property rights (IPR).

Shatrughan Sinha’s identity is unmatched – Court’s comment

The judge commented, “There is no doubt that Shatrughan Sinha’s work and his identity in the film industry are unique and unmatched. The name he has earned is huge. He also has millions of fans on social media, which proves his popularity.” The court acknowledged that his style of speaking dialogues was unique. Especially the way he says the word ‘Khamosh’ has become his identity.

Business in the name of Shatrughan, lawyers called it ‘fraud’

Shatrughan’s lawyers said that Shatrughan’s identity is his own valuable property, but many people and companies are making money by using it without his permission. This is a kind of fraud, where other people are taking advantage of the actor’s name to sell their goods. The actor sought immediate relief from the court as counterfeit goods (like T-shirts, posters etc.) were being sold indiscriminately using his identity.

Before Shatrughan, many stars approached the court to save their identity.

Shatrughan is not the only actor who has taken the help of law to protect his identity. In recent times, many Bollywood stars have approached the court to protect their personality rights. The court had given a similar decision in favor of Akshay Kumar in October 2025. At that time the court had said that the way deepfake videos look completely real is very scary and worrying.
