New Delhi: The Supreme Court today gave a big decision regarding SIR in West Bengal. The court said that now judicial officers of Odisha and Jharkhand should also be included in the SIR process of Bengal. The Supreme Court said that these officers should have at least three years of work experience. In fact, just a few days ago, the court had asked the judicial officers of West Bengal to be involved in the SIR process, but the Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court said that 250 officers have been engaged for this work, but about 50 lakh forms are pending. Even if each judge checks 250 forms daily, it will still take about 80 days to complete the entire work.
Trinamool Congress happy with the decision
After this, the Supreme Court also ordered to include judicial officers of Odisha and Jharkhand. The court said that now Aadhar card, high school admit card and certificate will also be valid documents. Those who submitted documents online or in physical form before February 14 will have to be accepted. Trinamool Congress is happy with this decision of the court. Kunal Ghosh said that Mamata Banerjee was already saying that the work would not be done so soon, but due to the insistence of the Election Commission, many BLOs had to lose their lives and the work was also not done.
28 February deadline for final roll.
At the same time, BJP is also looking at this decision from its own perspective. Bengal BJP President Shamik Bhattacharya said that bringing judicial officers from other states means that the court does not trust the Bengal government. The Supreme Court has set February 28 as the deadline for publication of the final roll, but even after February 28, permission will be given to publish the supplementary list. The final electoral list will be published by combining both the lists. It should be hoped that now the ongoing politics on SIR in Bengal will come to an end and the way for holding elections will be cleared.
