‘Old buildings were a symbol of the British Empire’, said in his address before Seva Tirtha

Seva Teerth Inauguration: PM Modi in New Delhi today (Friday) Inaugurated Seva Teerth. On this occasion, the Prime Minister said that today we all are seeing a new history being made. This day of 13th February is witnessing a new beginning in India’s development journey. Vijaya Ekadashi has great importance in the scriptures. On this day, victory is achieved with the determination with which we move forward. Today, we all are entering the pilgrimage of service, the building of duty, taking the pledge of a developed India. The divine blessings are with us to be victorious in our goal.

South Block buildings built to implement British thinking

Buildings like South Block and North Block, which were built to implement the British ideology, today complexes like Seva Teerth and Dutva Bhavan are built to fulfill the aspirations of the people of India. The decisions taken from here will not be based on the thinking of any Maharaja, but will become the basis for carrying forward the expectations of 140 crore countrymen. With this nectar of spirit, today I am dedicating this Seva Teerth and Dutva Bhavan to the people of India.

Seva Teerth is witnessing a new beginning

Prime Minister Modi said that Seva Teerth is witnessing a new beginning. Seva Teerth will be the basis for carrying forward the expectations of the public. The place from where the country runs should be inspiring. The old buildings were falling into disrepair. There was also shortage of space. The buildings of the North-South Block are part of the country’s history. That is why it has been decided to make it a museum. The time of construction workers of the duty building will be saved. Its construction will cost less.

The country should run from an inspiring place

PM Modi said that at this time the first quarter of the 21st century has been completed. It is important that the vision of a developed India is reflected not only in policies and plans, but also in our workplaces and buildings. The place from where the country is governed should be effective as well as inspiring. The North-South Block was built so high that no one could match it, but coincidentally the Seva Teerth is connected to the ground. It is not built on any hill.

There was lack of space in old buildings

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, ‘There was a shortage of space in the old buildings like South Block and North Block, the facilities also had their limits. These buildings, which were about 100 years old, were becoming dilapidated from within. Apart from this there were many challenges also. I think it is important to be informed about these challenges. For example, even after so many years of independence, all the ministries of Delhi government are running from more than 50 places in Delhi.

More than Rs 1500 were spent on rent.

He further said that every year more than Rs 1,500 crore is being spent on rent for these places. The logistics cost of moving 8-10 thousand employees from one building to another every day was different. Now, with the construction of Seva Teerth and Dhakti Bhawans, these expenses will be reduced, time will be saved and productivity will increase. In the journey of developed India, it is very important that India moves forward free from the mentality of slavery. It is unfortunate that even after independence the symbols of slavery continued to be carried in our country.

Changing the name is related to changing mood of power.

PM Modi said, ‘We started a campaign to change the mentality of slavery. We built a National War Memorial in the name of the heroes. We built a police memorial to honor the bravery of the police. The race course was renamed Lok Kalyan Marg. This was not just a decision to change the name, it was a sacred effort to change the mood of power into the spirit of service.

Duty Path becomes a lively place for citizens

He further said that behind these decisions of ours there is a deep feeling, a vision, which connects our present, our past and our future with the pride of India. The place which was earlier known as Rajpath, had neither adequate facilities nor proper arrangements for the common citizens. We developed it as a duty path and today the place has become a lively place for families, children and citizens coming from all over the country.
