Amid tensions in West Asia, another Indian citizen has died in Saudi Arabia. This information was given by the Indian Embassy in Riyadh on Friday. “The Embassy expresses its deepest condolences on the tragic demise of an Indian national due to the recent events that took place on March 18 in Riyadh,” the Embassy said on Twitter. The embassy is in touch with the family of the deceased and local authorities. We are committed to providing all possible assistance in the matter.

Effort to bring the dead body back to India

In the inter-ministerial press briefing on Friday, Additional Secretary (Gulf) Aseem Mahajan said that information about the death of the citizen was received on Thursday. Mahajan said the Indian mission in Riyadh is in touch with the authorities and is closely monitoring the process of bringing his mortal remains back to India. He said that a total of 6 Indian citizens have lost their lives so far during the ongoing conflict and one is still missing.

How is the situation of air travel in Gulf countries?

On the current flight situation in West Asia, Mahajan said that the situation is improving and additional flights are being operated. He said that around 3 lakh passengers have returned to India since February 28. From the United Arab Emirates (UAE), airlines continue to operate limited non-scheduled flights. He said that from Friday, 90 flights to India can be operated from various airports of UAE and Qatar Airways can operate 10 irregular flights to India.
