Piracy king Aibomma Ravi was released from jail after 90 days

Ravi alias Aibomma Ravi, who was arrested by the Hyderabad police in a piracy case, was released on bail from Chanchaguda jail yesterday. Ravi, who was running some piracy websites and apps including Ibomma, was arrested three months ago by the police. Several cases of piracy were registered against Aibomma Ravi. Ravi, who was running a piracy website abroad, was arrested by the police when he came to Hyderabad for family reasons.

But even after 90 days of arrest, the police did not file a charge sheet against Ravi. Based on this, Aibomma Ravi got bail. The court granted interim bail to Ravi with some stringent conditions. The court imposed conditions such as appearing before the investigating officer and signing every day, surrendering his passport and visas to the police, not attempting to leave the country and completely stopping the activities of piracy websites.

The lawyer who argued on behalf of the police said, ‘Ravi has caused loss of thousands of crores and he is also a foreign citizen. So there is a risk of him running away.’ But considering the fact that the charge sheet has not been filed even after 90 days, the judge granted interim bail to Ravi with conditions.

Aibomma Ravi had pirated thousands of movies. He used to upload movies for free to many websites including his iBomma while sitting abroad. Sometimes he used to upload the movies to the website even before they were released. Aibomma Ravi’s target was mostly Telugu movies. According to some reports, Aibomma Ravi alone has lost thousands of crores to the Telugu film industry. Many production houses, producers association, film chambers of Telugu film industry had complained against Ravi many times.
