New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 28th Conference of Lok Sabha Speakers and Presiding Officers from Commonwealth countries in the Parliament House complex. This conference was presided over by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. It was attended by 61 Lok Sabha Speakers and Presiding Officers from 42 Commonwealth countries and 4 semi-autonomous parliaments from different parts of the world. PM Modi addressed the gathering on this occasion.

In his address, PM Modi said, “The place where you all are sitting is a very important place in India’s democratic journey. In the last years of slavery, when India’s independence was decided, the Constituent Assembly meetings were held in this Central Hall to draft the Constitution of India. After India’s independence, this building remained the Parliament of India for 75 years. Many decisions and discussions related to the future of India took place in this hall. India named this place dedicated to democracy as the Constituent Assembly. Has been named.”
PM Modi told interesting thing
PM Modi said that the interesting thing is that the speaker does not get a chance to speak much. Their job is to listen to others speak and make sure everyone gets a chance. One thing speakers have in common is their patience. He also handles noisy and over-excited members with a smile.”
India is the fastest growing economy in the world
PM Modi said, “India is the fastest growing major economy in the world. UPI in India is the world’s largest digital payment system. India is the world’s largest vaccine producer. India is the world’s No. 2 steel producer. India has the world’s third largest startup ecosystem. India is the world’s third largest aviation market. India has the world’s fourth largest rail network. India has the world’s third largest metro rail network.” He said, “The hallmark of democracy in India is that benefits reach to the last person. We are working without any discrimination for every person in the spirit of public welfare and due to this spirit of public welfare, 25 crore people in India have come out of poverty in the last few years.”
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s address
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in his address said, “We have gathered here today with the aim of democratic dialogue, cooperation and sharing of common values in India, the world’s largest democracy. Where we will share the practices, initiatives and experiences of parliamentary democracy. Our Parliament’s journey of more than 7 decades has strengthened democracy by formulating policies for the public welfare.”
