New Delhi: Iran was attacked by America and Israel on February 28 and since then the war is going on in the Gulf countries. Regarding the ongoing tension in the Middle East, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday spoke to Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman and his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim and discussed with them the situation of the ongoing conflict in West Asia. The talks between the three leaders on Thursday supported efforts to de-escalate the conflict in the Middle East and then restore peace and stability throughout the Middle East. PM Modi, in separate telephonic conversations with the Sultan of Oman and the Prime Minister of Malaysia, also stressed the need for safe and unimpeded navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
PM Modi spoke to the Sultan of Oman
PM Modi said in a post on ‘X’, “I spoke with my brother Sultan Haitham bin Tariq and wished the people of Oman a happy Eid. We both agreed on the need to give priority to dialogue and diplomacy to reduce tensions and thereafter restore peace and stability in the Gulf region.” PM Modi reiterated India’s condemnation of the violation of Oman’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and appreciated the efforts made to ensure the safe return of thousands of people, including Indian citizens. “India and Oman are committed to safe and unimpeded navigation in the Strait of Hormuz,” he said.
PM Modi spoke to the PM of Malaysia
During his conversation with Ibrahim, Modi extended his warm greetings to the Malaysian PM and the people of Malaysia on Eid-ul-Fitr. “We also discussed the extremely worrying situation in West Asia and reiterated our shared commitment to reduce tensions and quickly restore peace and stability through dialogue and diplomacy,” he said.
Let us tell you that this is the second time that Modi has held talks with the Sultan of Oman since America and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28 and in response Iran attacked several Gulf countries. PM Modi has also spoken to several world leaders including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Israel and Iran since the conflict began in the Gulf.
