PM Modi AI Impact Summit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday warmly welcomed leaders and delegates from across the world at the ongoing India AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The summit, being held from 16 to 20 February, is the first major AI summit in the Global South. The objective of this summit is to establish India as a global leader in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
PM Modi welcomed international personalities
During the summit, Prime Minister Modi welcomed many international personalities including UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, IMF chief Kristalina Georgieva. Leaders like Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka, Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam, Croatia Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, Serbia President Aleksandar Vucic, Seychelles Vice President Sebastian Pillai, Estonian President Alar Karis, Finland Prime Minister Petter Orpo, Greece Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Guyana Vice President Bharat Jagdeo. The welcome was given in traditional Indian style. At the welcome ceremony, amidst the sounds of traditional instruments like drums, nadaswaram and tanpura, the Prime Minister greeted everyone by shaking hands and saying “Namaste-Namaste”. Bharat Mandapam was beautifully decorated, where cultural programs were also organised.
PM Modi held bilateral meetings
Prime Minister Modi held a total of 9 bilateral meetings on Wednesday, including 7 with world leaders and 2 with global CEOs. Prominent among them were Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, Croatia’s Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, Finland’s Prime Minister Petter Orpo, and Estonia’s President Alar Karis. He met separately with Google CEO Sundar Pichai and Sun Microsystems co-founder Vinod Khosla. In these meetings, detailed discussions were held on issues like AI, technology, innovation, blue economy, IMEEC corridor, India-EU FTA, digital cooperation and economic partnership.
PM Modi hosted dinner
After the meeting with the Croatian Prime Minister, Modi posted on Facebook that the two countries agreed to enhance technology, shipbuilding and connectivity. After meeting the Estonian President, he praised Estonia’s progress in AI and tech and stressed on strengthening economic partnership. The Prime Minister also hosted a dinner for heads of state and global dignitaries.
Know what is the theme of the summit?
The summit brought together more than 500 global AI leaders, 150 academics and researchers, and 400 CTOs, VPs and other experts. The theme is ‘Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaay’, which is based on the three pillars People, Planet and Progress. On Wednesday evening, the Prime Minister hosted a dinner in honor of world leaders and dignitaries, where cultural programs also took place. The summit focuses on harnessing AI for human-centric progress and promoting inclusive growth.
