There was an explosion at Naugaon Police Station in Srinagar late on Friday night. Here the blast occurred while taking samples from explosives. DGP Nalin Prabhat gave information about this entire incident in a press conference. Apart from this, the Home Ministry also held a press conference. The Home Ministry said in its press conference, “It was the Naugam police that exposed the doctor module. The explosives seized from Faridabad were kept in the police station. The blast occurred during the forensic investigation. 9 people have died in the blast. There is no terrorist angle in this, it was an accident.”
The investigation was going on for two days
On the blast in Naugam, Jammu and Kashmir DGP Nalin Prabhat said, ‘During the investigation of the FIR lodged at Naugam police station, a large quantity of explosive substances, chemicals and reagents were also recovered from Faridabad on November 9 and 10. This recovery, like other recoveries, was kept safely in the open area of Police Station Naugam.’ “The recovered samples were to be sent for further forensic and chemical examination,” he said. Due to the massive nature of the seizures, this process was going on by the FSL team for the last 2 days, i.e. yesterday and the day before yesterday.’
9 died in the accident
The DGP said, ‘Unfortunately, an accidental explosion occurred at around 11.20 pm last night. Any further speculation regarding the cause of this incident is unnecessary. 9 people have lost their lives in this incident. 1 SIA personnel, 3 FSL team personnel, 2 crime scene photographers, 2 revenue officers who were part of the magistrate’s team, 1 tailor who was associated with the team. Apart from this, 27 policemen, 2 revenue officers and 3 civilians from nearby areas were injured, who were immediately taken to the nearest hospital.
Nearby buildings also damaged
The DGP said, ‘The police station building has been very seriously damaged and even nearby buildings have been affected. The extent of this loss is being ascertained. The reasons for this unfortunate incident are being investigated. In this hour of grief, Jammu and Kashmir Police stands in solidarity with the families of the deceased.
