Rain, hailstorm alert issued in 21 states for three days

The mood of the weather has changed once again. It rained in Delhi-NCR yesterday also and today suddenly the weather took a turn and the weather remained pleasant due to strong winds, dust storm, rain with thunder and lightning. Clouds are visible in many states of the country, it has rained at some places. Normal life has been affected due to snowfall in the mountains. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an alert of thunderstorm in 21 states and hailstorm in 6 states from March 19 to March 22, 2026. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather condition is likely to become more severe on March 20. There is a possibility of rain with strong wind. Hail alert has also been issued in many states.

Weather changed due to activation of western disturbance

According to the Meteorological Department, during the next 24 hours, due to active Western Disturbance in entire North India, there will be thunderstorms and rain along with hailstorm in many states, and an alert of lightning has also been issued at some places. Due to the impact of a new strong disturbance in the hilly areas, there is a possibility of heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand. On Friday, an alert of thunderstorm and heavy rain has been issued at many places in the northeastern states of Odisha, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal. Skymet has indicated cloudy sky over Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Maharashtra, Vidarbha and Marathwada.

Know where the clouds will rain

  • The maximum temperature recorded in Delhi on Thursday was around 27 degrees Celsius. The weather will remain pleasant on Friday also. On March 20, there is a danger of lightning due to strong dust storm, rain and hailstorm in some parts of Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. For the next 2 days, winds will blow at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour and there will be respite from the heat.

  • In Uttar Pradesh, there is an alert of thunderstorm and rain with thunder in Noida, Ghaziabad, Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Amroha, Meerut, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, Badaun, Sambhal, Hapur, Aligarh, Bulandshahr, Agra, Mathura, Hathras, Kasganj, Etah and Firozabad on March 20. During this period, hail may fall in some districts of West UP and there is also a possibility of lightning at some places.
  • On March 20, the Meteorological Department of Bihar warned of heavy rain in Patna, Gaya, Darbhanga, Nalanda, Jehanabad, Bhojpur, Buxar, Arwal, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad, Nawada, Jamui, Sheikhpura, East Champaran, West Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Sitamarhi, Shivhar, Samastipur, Madhubani, Supaul, An alert has been issued in Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar, Bhagalpur, Banka, Munger, Begusarai and Khagaria regarding hailstorm and hailstorm amid strong storm and rain.
  • Due to western disturbance in Rajasthan, IMD has predicted strong thunderstorms and rain in some parts of Jaipur, Bharatpur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Ajmer, Udaipur, Shekhawati and Kota divisions in the next two days. An alert has been issued regarding strong storm, rain and hailstorm in many districts of Punjab including Chandigarh, Pathankot, Amritsar, Patiala, Rupnagar, Ludhiana, SBS Nagar.
  • In Uttarakhand, weather activities will continue in Rudraprayag, Kedarnath Dham, Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar during the next 24 hours.
  • In Himachal Pradesh, heavy rain and snowfall is expected at some places in Lahaul-Spiti, Kukumseri, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Chamba and Kangra till March 24. During this time, there is an orange alert of thunderstorm and hailstorm along with lightning.
  • Snowfall is occurring in most parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Ganderbal, Sonamarg, Chenab Valley, Baramulla, Kupwara, Mughal Road, Srinagar Valley and higher reaches of South Kashmir.
  • There are indications of inclement weather in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
  • Orange alert of rain has been issued in northeastern Odisha, Sikkim, Assam, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.
