Once again a voice was raised against the country from the grounds of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi. JNU has been defamed once again. Slogans like ‘Modi will dig your grave, Amit Shah will dig your grave’ were raised in the same JNU campus where slogans like ‘Bharat tere tukde honge, Insha Allah… Insha Allah’ were raised ten years ago.
The sloganeers are associated with the same organizations which had raised slogans like ‘Desh ke tukde honge’. Student leaders of Left Front in JNU, JNU Student Union President, Vice President and General Secretary along with their supporters raised slogans.
The reason for their anger was that the Supreme Court had rejected the bail applications of Delhi riots accused Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam. The decision was of the Supreme Court but anger was directed at the Prime Minister and the Home Minister. Death of Modi and Amit Shah was wished, is this way of protesting right? Does opposing ideology mean wishing for the death of people holding constitutional positions? Are student leaders crossing their limits? Has JNU now become a den of urban Naxals?
JNU administration has written a letter to Delhi Police asking them to register an FIR against these students. On Monday night, a meeting of student leaders of AISA and SFI was called outside JNU’s Sabarmati Hostel, it was named Guerrilla Dhaba. It was told that people of student organizations would protest outside Sabarmati Hostel against the attacks on students in JNU in 2020 because no action has been taken in that matter yet, but when the crowd gathered, it was understood that the protest was against the rejection of the bail applications of Umar Khalid and Sharjeel Imam.
The sloganeering was fine but after a while they started raising slogans like ‘Modi will dig your grave, Amit Shah will dig your grave, will dig it on JNU land’. Then slogans started being raised against RSS, BJP, Ambani, Adani, claims were made to defeat the saffron party.
The kind of slogans that shamed the country were raised in the Guerrilla Dhaba Protest outside Sabarmati Hostel. Similar slogans were raised at the same place in JNU ten years ago also. Then there was a desire to break India into pieces.
JNU administration has said that in the name of protest, the university’s code of conduct was broken and in the name of democratic freedom, derogatory slogans were raised against people holding constitutional posts, which may spoil the campus environment.
BJP leaders expressed displeasure over such sloganeering. Union Minister Giriraj Singh said that JNU has become the head-office of the Tukde Tukde gang, treason cases should be filed against those who raise such slogans.
What happened in JNU has once again challenged the patriots. The question is not just about raising slogans against Modi and Amit Shah. Wishing death of any person is a crime against humanity but Modi is the excuse, the country is the target.
What happened in JNU is a well-planned attack by urban Naxals. These people are very clever. They raise slogans of revolution, make noise in the name of Modi and RSS, but the decision they are challenging is the decision of the Supreme Court. These slogans raised in JNU are a challenge to our Constitution and the Supreme Court. This should not be taken lightly. (Rajat Sharma)
