People who are worried about their old vehicles in Delhi are expected to get relief. The Delhi government has written a letter to CAQM (Commission for Air Quality Management), saying that 10 to 15 -year -old vehicles should be stopped at the time of not giving fuel in petrol pumps and seizing them.
It is written in the letter that the ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras have been installed on the petrol pump to identify the old vehicles numberplates, there are many flaws in them. Therefore, the decision to seize old vehicles should be stopped at the moment. There are currently 62 lakh such two-west and four-wheeler vehicles in Delhi, which are ten or fifteen years old. The court order is that they should be seized and then scrap, they should not be given fuel.
There are a large number of senior citizens in Delhi who have an old car and they use it only one or two days a month. Everyone like this is upset. Many people sent me messages, e-mails on the phone. One or two cases were found in which someone said that my Mercedes car is worth Rs 84 lakh, but is ten years old, so I had to sell only two and a half million rupees for fear of being scrap. A vehicle has run only seventy thousand kilometers, she could run more but under the new order it will also have to scrap it.
I questioned Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on this problem. Rekha Gupta was my guest in ‘Aap Ki Adalat’. Rekha Gupta said that he fully agrees that it is a big trouble for the people of Delhi and his government is trying his best to save people from this trouble.
Rekha Gupta said that it is not that of her government to seize the old vehicles and scrap it. This includes court, NGT and CAQM. But she assured that she would try her best to save the people of Delhi from this problem. Rekha Gupta said that the previous governments did nothing in this matter, the public did not put the public properly in front of the Supreme Court and NGT, so the people of Delhi had to face this trouble.
Rekha Gupta admitted that there are thousands of such cases and people are very upset with this order. He says that the Kejriwal government started scrapping vehicles a year and a half ago. Khwamkhwah was strict in this, but his government will no longer let this happen, will provide relief to the people. You can watch this show of ‘Aap Ki Adalat’ on India TV on Saturday night.
In fact, the order to close the old trains was first ordered by NGT in 2014. Expressing concern over the air pollution of Delhi at that time, the NGT ordered that 10 -year -old diesel and 15 -year -old petrol vehicles should not be given a parking space in Public Place.
In 2018, the Supreme Court ordered that 10 -year -old diesel and 15 -year -old petrol trains be removed from Delhi. After this, the matter continued to postpone. Arvind Kejriwal was the Chief Minister for ten years. Kejriwal’s government did not take any concrete decisions. This year, the Commission for Air Quality Management ordered the Supreme Court’s decision to be implemented from July 1, ordered the old vehicles not to give petrol diesel. Cameras were installed at all petrol pumps in Delhi, police were deployed and 158 sice had been seized by Wednesday. This trend continues.
There is panic among people. Therefore, the Delhi government has now opposed this decision. The Commission for Air Quality Management has written a letter by the Environment Minister of Delhi. Although the NGT and Supreme Court order in this case, it will take time to resolve it.
But one thing was not understood that why Kejriwal’s government did not make the argument in the NGT and court that if pollution is to be reduced, then stop the vehicles that spread pollution in the air. Then the pollution -causing vehicle is two years old or twenty years, what difference does it make? If a car is fit, its pollution level is within the acceptable limit, then what is the point behind seizing it and scraping it? (Rajat Sharma)
