What is the news?
Veteran filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has made a big prediction about the film ‘Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge’ starring Ranveer Singh. He claims that this film will prove to be a meteorite for Indian cinema, which will forever end the ‘dinosaur era’ dominated by South Indian masala films. He has predicted that if this film touches the Rs 2,000 crore mark, it will uproot the current dominance of Pan-India South films.
Sequel will change the history of Indian cinema – director
Varma claims that this film will prove to be a meteorite for Indian cinema, which will forever end the ‘dinosaur era’ dominated by South Indian masala films. Praising the film, Verma has predicted that if the film earns Rs 1,500 to 2,000 crore worldwide, it will rewrite the history of Indian cinema and uproot the dominance of South’s blockbuster films.
“South’s action films are on the old path”
Taking his point further, Verma said that many action films in the South are still limited to the ‘old style’ of storytelling and only grandeur. According to Varma, the biggest advantage this sequel has is that the audience already has a deep connection with its characters and story. The audience is so immersed in the story and characters that they will just skip ahead to the first part.”
‘Bahubali’ style of shooting
Verma shared information about the making of the film. He told that both the parts of ‘Dhurandhar’ have been shot simultaneously. Varma says that since both the parts have been shot together, the flow of the story will be exactly like if a long film was divided into two parts. He compared it to SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali’, where both parts of the story were deeply connected to each other.

Verma’s jibe at commercial cinema
The director took a dig at ‘commercial cinema’ regarding the action of ‘Dhurandhar 2’. He described the film’s action choreography as grounded and realistic. He said that the ‘exaggerated’ action often seen in commercial cinema has now become outdated. He said, “You can’t show people flying in the air and kicking in the air. It has to look real.” He credited Aditya Dhar’s franchise for pushing Bollywood towards more realistic action.
Box office clash between ‘Dhurandhar 2’ and ‘Ustad Bhagat Singh’
Let us tell you that earlier Ranveer Singh’s film ‘Dhurandhar 2’ was to compete with ‘Rocking Star’ Yash’s ‘Toxic’, but this box office clash was averted due to the postponement of its release till June. However, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ will still face a tough challenge. The film is releasing on March 19 along with Pawan Kalyan’s ‘Ustad Bhagat Singh’. Along with Ranveer, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun will also be seen in important roles in the film.
