Retired teacher was worshiping in the temple at night, mob punished him on suspicion of black magic

A shocking incident has come to light from Ganjam district of Odisha. Here, some people of the village attacked an elderly man on suspicion of practicing black magic. The elderly were seriously injured in this attack. Police took action in the case and arrested 10 people and presented them in the court.

This incident took place on the intervening night of March 7 and 8 in Belpunji village of Belaguntha police station area of ​​Ganjam district. The injured person has been identified as Gopal Krishna Sethi, a retired teacher and is said to be a resident of Dhepa Sahi in Chadiyapalli.

Suspicious after seeing worship in the temple

According to the information, a few days before the incident, the people of the village had seen Gopal Krishna Sethi doing puja and chanting mantras in the Thakurani temple of Belpunji village late at night. It is being told that at that time she was wearing women’s clothes like saree, bangles and flower garland. For this reason, some people of the village started suspecting him of practicing black magic.

The old man had reached the temple with his son.

It is said that on the night of the incident, Gopal Krishna Sethi insisted his son to take him to the temple. It is being told that he is mentally weak, so his son took him to the temple of Belpunji village and left him there and returned back. When Gopal Krishna Sethi was sitting in the temple, some tribal people living nearby saw him and suspected that he was doing black magic.

The villagers beat him up

After this, some people of the village gathered there and attacked the old man. During this, he was beaten severely, due to which he was seriously injured. After receiving information about the incident, the police reached the spot and rescued the injured elderly man and immediately admitted him to Brahmapur Hospital for treatment, where his treatment is going on.

10 people arrested

In this matter, SDPO Dr. Deepak Kumar Mishra said that this is a very sad incident. He said that the condition of the injured person is now said to be stable. Police have registered a case based on the complaint of the victim and after preliminary investigation, 10 people of Belpunji village have been arrested and presented in the court. At present, the police is further investigating the entire matter.
