What is the news?

On India’s trade deal with the US, Russia said New Delhi is free to buy crude oil from any country and the effort is not to target Moscow. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia has never been India’s only energy partner. Peskov also rejected the suggestion that a change in energy sources would be unusual.

No official information received from India- Peskov

“We and all other international energy experts are well aware that Russia is not the only supplier of oil and petroleum products to India. India has always been buying these products from other countries. Therefore, we do not see anything new in this,” Peskov told reporters. However, Peskov also said that Moscow has not yet received any official information from India regarding stopping the purchase of oil from Russia.

It is impractical to completely change oil trade – Russian expert

Meanwhile, Russian energy analysts say complete substitution of Russian crude for Indian refineries is impractical. Igor Yushkov of the National Energy Security Fund said shale oil exported from the US is mainly of light grades, while Russia supplies the heavier, sulfur-rich Ural crude that Indian refineries use. He said direct replacement was not possible and would increase costs for India.
