What is the news?

Amid the crisis of LPG cylinders, on Tuesday morning, a second tanker loaded with Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) also crossed the war-torn Strait of Hormuz and reached Gujarat. Earlier this ship was to go to Kandla port in Gujarat, but it has been diverted towards Vadinar port. This ship has about 45,000 metric tons of gas, which can solve the LPG problem in the country to a great extent.

Reached Shivalik on Monday evening

Earlier on Monday evening, tanker ship Shivalik had crossed Hormuz and reached Mundra port in Gujarat. He was given the pass immediately without much process. Shipping Ministry’s Special Secretary Rajesh Sinha had told in the press conference on Monday that there is about 92,700 metric tons of LPG on both the ships. Other tankers may also soon cross the narrow sea route of the Strait of Hormuz and come to India.

Now 22 ships stranded in the Persian Gulf

Shivalik and Nanda Devi, Indian-flagged LPG carriers, departed from the Persian Gulf west on the 13th, transited Hormuz on the 14th and arrived in India on Monday-Tuesday. Now 22 Indian flagged ships are left in the Persian Gulf, with a total of 611 sailors on board. Of these, 6 are LPG tankers, which have left for India. 80-90 percent of India’s LPG comes through Hormuz.
