Severe cold alert in Delhi NCR, mercury 0.6 degree in Gurugram, know the condition of Mumbai

The Meteorological Department has warned of severe cold in North Indian cities including Delhi NCR. However, the temperature may remain normal in the southern and western areas of the country. The minimum temperature in Mumbai today is expected to be around 20 degrees Celsius at 7 am. At the same time, the maximum temperature can reach 33 degrees Celsius in the afternoon. The minimum temperature in Kolkata may go up to 12 degrees Celsius around 6 am. At the same time, the maximum temperature will be 24 degrees Celsius around 1 pm. In Bengaluru also, the temperature is expected to be between 17 to 26 degrees Celsius on Tuesday.

On Monday, Gurugram, Faridabad and surrounding areas including Rewari district witnessed frost along with a significant drop in night temperature. India Meteorological Department has predicted severe cold and dense fog in North India in the coming days.

Mercury near zero degree in Gurugram

The cold was particularly severe in the outskirts of the National Capital Region. Haryana’s lowest temperature of 0.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Gurugram, while the temperature in the surrounding areas also remained close to zero. In rural areas, frost can be seen on field ridges, vehicle windows and dry grass. Even in the city, there was a layer of snow on the windshields of some vehicles parked outside houses. Although Gurugram is primarily an urban area, a large amount of frost was seen in the fields around Manesar on Monday morning.

Alert issued for Tuesday

IMD estimates that severe cold will continue in most areas of Delhi NCR and Haryana on Tuesday. Light to moderate fog may occur in some areas in the morning. In view of the cold wave, the department has issued orange alert for Tuesday and yellow alert for Wednesday.

Minimum temperature in Delhi near three degrees

Severe cold was felt in Delhi on Monday and the minimum temperature at many weather stations in the city dropped to around three degrees Celsius. This was the coldest day of this month after January 2023. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature had fallen to 1.4 degrees Celsius on January 16, 2023. IMD said the maximum temperature in the national capital is expected to be 19 degrees Celsius. The department said that cold wave conditions are expected to persist in the capital for the next two days.

Cold wave havoc in Rajasthan

The harsh winter season continues in Rajasthan, where the temperature has dropped to freezing point in many places. Last night, the minimum temperature in Fatehpur, Sikar was recorded at minus 0.4 degrees Celsius. According to the Meteorological Department, cold wave was recorded in almost entire Rajasthan in the last 24 hours. There was extreme cold wave and cold days in many places. It said that there was dense fog at many places in western Rajasthan. The Meteorological Department says that the cold wave is expected to continue in the state.
