The new year has started with severe cold and heavy snowfall. Even today there is a possibility of heavy snowfall in the hilly states. According to the Meteorological Department (IMD), there will be an outbreak of cold wave from the mountains to the plains, there is a warning of rain and snowfall in Himachal and Uttarakhand, while snowfall is expected in most areas of Jammu and Kashmir. That means there will be severe cold due to drop in temperature. However, due to snowfall, the tourists are having fun, they are enjoying this snowfall to the fullest. At the same time, alert of cold wave and dense fog continues in Delhi-NCR. Also, there is a possibility of dense fog in many parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.

How will the weather be in Delhi today?

According to IMD, there will be orange alert in Delhi on January 2. Today cold winds may blow and it will be cloudy. There is also a forecast of no sunshine on January 2. Currently, Orange Alert warning has been issued by the India Meteorological Department only for January 2. IMD has also released the weather forecast till January 7, in which the maximum temperature is seen falling to 17 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature falling to 7 degrees Celsius.

Snowfall alert in Himachal, Jammu and Kashmir even today

With the beginning of the new year, there is heavy snowfall in the hilly states. The valleys from Jammu to Uttarakhand and Himachal are covered with snow. Areas up to Chamba, Manali, Bhaderwah and Gulmarg are seen covered with white sheets. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy snowfall will be seen in the hilly states even today. However, light to moderate rain may occur at some places.

Fog hits from Punjab to Odisha

Very dense fog is likely to prevail in the morning and night hours over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, UP, Bihar and Odisha for the next 5 to 7 days. There will be double attack of cold wave and fog in more than 25 districts of UP today. Visibility may remain very low at many places, due to which road and rail traffic may be affected.

At the same time, a warning has been issued about cold wave in some parts of Rajasthan. Cold can cause more trouble especially in the morning and night.

Uttarakhand weather

There may be light to moderate rain and snowfall in Uttarakhand for the next 2 days. Due to this, the temperature may drop further in the hilly areas and travelers need to be cautious.
