Sugarcane & tractor trailer caught fire due to short circuit – Lakhs of Rs. Loss, appeal for compensation! – Btv Kannada

Vijayapura: A terrible fire accident occurred in Ratnapura village of Tikota taluk of Vijayapur district due to an electrical short circuit.

Farmer Bhimu Kembavi’s 5 acres of sugarcane crop and a tractor-trailer full of sugarcane were completely gutted. While preparing to send the harvested sugarcane to the factory, the mishap took place due to a technical fault in the power line passing over the farm.

An electrical spark first ignited the cane in the trailer and engulfed the entire trailer in no time. Later, due to the speed of the wind, the fire spread to the adjacent 5 acres of sugarcane crop. Farmer Bhimu Kembavi is distraught to see the crop that he has grown so hard for the whole year burning up before his eyes. Sugarcane and trailer worth lakhs of rupees have been destroyed and the distressed farmer family is expecting compensation from the government.

We had borrowed very hard and raised crops. This disaster happened when I was about to send something else to the factory. The government should give us appropriate compensation, the aggrieved farmer pleaded tearfully. Officials who visited the spot conducted an investigation and a case was registered at the Thikota Police Station.
