Mysore: In forest areas where tiger attacks are on the rise, to instill confidence in local people and control attacks, the Forest Department has launched an innovative and special awareness programme. On the instructions of Forest Minister Ishwar Khandre, as part of this, thousands of face masks are being distributed in the surrounding villages of Hediala forest area in Mysore division.
Protection of people from tigers and other wild animals in forested areas is a big challenge for the forest department. People of Hediala village are reluctant to go for agricultural activities. To overcome this problem, the department followed the face mask strategy. The department has requested people to wear these masks on the back of their heads while going to work. The basic hope behind this innovative technique is that wild animals get confused and hesitate to attack when they see a human face on the back of their head.

As per the strict orders of Minister Ishwar Khandre, C.C.F. (CCF) Prabhakaran and A.C.F. (ACF) Paramesh led this awareness program and mask distribution campaign. Over 10,000 face masks have been distributed in Kadanchi villages in the last two days.
