Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin released DMK manifesto

What is the news?

A day after Tamil Nadu’s ruling party Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) announced its 164 candidates for the assembly elections, Chief Minister MK Stalin also released his manifesto on Sunday. Releasing the manifesto at the DMK headquarters in Chennai, Stalin praised his government and said it has taken the coastal state to the top position in the field of development. During this, many tempting promises were also made to the people of the state.

What promises did Chief Minister Stalin make?

Chief Minister Stalin in the manifesto promised to extend the breakfast scheme to Class 8, provide Rs 2,000 per month under the Kalaignar Mahila Riti Scheme and increase the monthly financial assistance given to each student under the Pudhumai Pen and Tamil Pudhalvan Scheme to Rs 1,500. Similarly, he also promised to install free pumps for farmers without meters, increase the old age pension to Rs 2,000 and increase the pension of the disabled to Rs 2,500.

Stalin also announced construction of 10 lakh new houses under the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam scheme, increasing the procurement rate of paddy for the agriculture sector to Rs 3,500 per quintal and the procurement rate of sugarcane to Rs 4,500 per tonne. Along with announcing free electricity, the Chief Minister has also made a big promise of increasing the income limit for the health insurance scheme to Rs 5 lakh per year and increasing the coverage to Rs 10 lakh.

What has been announced for fishermen?

Chief Minister Stalin said, “Fishermen will get the benefit of increase in relief assistance, including increasing the assistance given during the period of fishing ban from Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,000 and the assistance given during the period of low production from Rs 6,000 to Rs 9,000.” Let us tell you that elections in Tamil Nadu will be held in a single phase on April 9. The results will be declared on May 4.
