Signs of onset of heat have started appearing in the northern and central parts of the country, while the southern states are receiving continuous rain due to the effect of low-pressure system. Due to this change, abnormal fluctuations are taking place in the temperature.
Chances of rain in these states of the country
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Tamil Nadu and Kerala during the next 24 hours. During this period, strong winds of 30-40 km are expected. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in Odisha on 24 February. There is a possibility of rain and lightning at these places.
According to the Meteorological Department, there may be rain in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Telangana on February 24. Apart from this, there is a possibility of rain in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh today and tomorrow. There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall at isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during 26-28 February.
Heat hits these areas of the country
The maximum temperature in North-West India is expected to gradually increase by 3-4 degrees Celsius in the next seven days. In Delhi, both the minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to increase by about 2 degrees Celsius in the next two to three days. In the last 24 hours, it was 3-5°C above normal in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh, Western Rajasthan, Gujarat, Assam, Meghalaya, Odisha.
The Meteorological Department said that the maximum temperature in Chhattisgarh and Odisha remained between 34-37°C. It was 30-34°C in many parts of Central India, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura. It was 25-30°C in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh. In the plains of India, the highest temperature of 37.0°C was seen in Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh) and Madurai (Tamil Nadu).
